Anger management
Anger is a ‘first impulse’ feeling, which means there may be another feeling that lies deeper, underneath.
It could be a feeling of sadness, loneliness, fear of abandonment, or feeling misunderstood. It could be not being seen or heard or paid attention to. It helps in communications with others, when you are able to express that feeling.
Anger also has a function. It helps you survive, to protect yourself and to create boundaries. No emotion is inherently “negative”. It is what we do with the emotion that is important. Anger itself is not the problem – it is how anger manifests that creates problems.
In therapy we look at how you can start to deal with anger in a way that is more productive. Mindfulness is one of the best tools to learn how to deal with all emotions more productively, including anger. Please contact me to learn more about it as well as other tools to deal with anger.
Feel free to contact one of us if you have any questions, or if you would like to make an appointment.
